The Opinel company was founded by Joseph Opinel. It was he who in the 1890s first presented to the public knives of his own production, which quickly gained popularity almost all over the world. This is evidenced by the pace of sales in the first half of the 20th century. More than 20 million copies were sold before the 1940s alone. These knives have become so popular due to their reliability, simplicity and versatility of use. Indeed, even classic models are well suited for tourism, due to the use of only high-quality materials and time-tested designs for production.
Opinel No. 12 is a classic representative of the Natural line, ideal for both daily use and outdoor activities.
The blade for this knife is made of Swedish Sandvik 12C27 steel, and each manufactured sample undergoes a special heat treatment, due to which its hardness is 58 HRC.
In this model, the handle is made of beech and has a traditional shape slightly extended at the end. This allows you to firmly hold the knife even in the most extreme conditions.
Also, Opinel No. 12, like most folding knives of this company, is equipped with a proprietary virobloc lock. This lock has a fairly simple design, but is able to withstand extremely heavy loads. It securely fixes the blade in one of two positions, which allows you not to worry that the knife will close during operation or open during transportation.
