The French company Opinel has been making knives since 1897. And since the appearance of the first models, their range has not changed much. To date, Opinel presents several lines of folding knives designed for a wide variety of purposes.
The most basic and early line of Opinel knives is considered Natural. It was these knives that Joseph Opinel first introduced to the public. They were distinguished by exceptional simplicity of design, reliability and strict, classic design. It is thanks to these qualities that they have gained worldwide popularity in such a short time, and are in demand to this day.
Blades for Opinel knives are made of high carbon or stainless steel. The first version of the blades needs careful maintenance, but it needs to be sharpened an order of magnitude less often, which is convenient for hiking. Stainless steel is ideal for everyday urban use. In general, Openel knives are a versatile tool that can be used for almost any task, and the simplicity of design, convenient shape and reliable lock make use as comfortable and safe as possible.
Initially, the Natural line had an indexation of models from 1 to 12, but later samples 1 and 11 were discontinued. Relatively recently, this model range was replenished with the Opinel No. 13 knife. It may have a prefix to the name Geant or Gigant. It is the largest model of this line with a blade length of 22 cm.
